Hobbyists and at-home solderers are causing permanent lung damage by
breathing in VOCs released by flux. Existing desktop fume extractors are
cheap, use ineffective fans, and offer poor filtration.

Gust proposes a desktop solution that provides two stages of filtration
that actually protect users’ lungs.

As ideation progressed, Gust was modeled and explored in SolidWorks. 
This process included considering how the design sits on a desk, surface details, proportions, and touch points.
